NEWPORT — The Carteret County Sheriff’s Office has identified the man accused of opening fire on a visitor at a vacant property Friday morning and have issued warrants for his arrest. The Sheriff’s Office named Thomas Ray Blevins, 46, as the suspect in the shooting. Blevins faces active warrants for attempted murder and possession of a firearm by a felon. Detectives noted that additional charges are expected.

Warrants say, 23-year-old Elijah Forbes was charged with statutory rape of a child under or 15-years-old.
